New Cat woes

So Ron. Cute as all get out.

But the boy will not use the litterbox to pee. He'll poop there consistently, but seems to pee where ever he wants. I have no idea what to do. I've never had to housetrain a cat - I've always just put them in the litterbox and that was it.

Any tips?

Tie the litterbox to his rump.

Sorry. Found a pool of pee on my own floor this morning, and I don't even have the excuse of having a cat.

Sounds like you need to put the cat in an oversized crate for a few days or so. I'm thinking of the cage-type crate that some people use to put their dogs in during the day. Cats are very clean animals and will not pee on their own bedding or next to their food bowls. This way you're making the cat use the litter pan. It might also be that this cat doesn't approve of your particular brand of litter. Try scoop if you're using regular clay, or clay if you're using scoop. Bring the cat out of its crate to play, but put it right back in when you're done. In the end, you may need to add more litter boxes to your house. Good luck!
