Still having kitty problems

So Ronnie is still peeing outside of his litterbox. Sigh. He does great for a few days and then slips.

From what I can tell, I might have too much litter in his litter box, so I emptied it down to just about an inch to an inch and a half deep. I also added a liberal amount of baking soda to help neutralize any odor. Then I mopped the floor he tends to use the most and moved the box over it.

Now, he is going to spend most of his time locked in the bathroom with his food and water bowls and his litter box. It's not my first choice, by any means, but Mr. Gaia is really fed up. I'm going to give him liberal praise every time I hear him scratch in his box and will put him in his box and praise him while he's there.

I did switch litters and it helped for a time, so I'll stick with it for now.

Have you taken him to a vet yet? We have a kitty that has this problem and discovered that she gets urinary tract infections (which is when she starts peeing outside the litterbox). Also, we have 4 cats, and they kind of fight with each other, so same kitty had to be put on kitty antidepressants for a while...

I did take him to the vet.

I took him in for his "free neuter" (the animal shelter paid for the operation, but I needed to pay for the medication and another immunization so $72 total). They said he didn't have an infection, but I've noticed that since he's been on the antibiotics he's been doing much better.

I hope I'm not jinxing this, but we're 24 hours with only litterbox usage!
